Our Friends, Soul Mates, Family, they were there when we needed them most.

We were fortunate to be given the opportunity to give Kashi her permanent home in September 2010. Kashi started her life extremely abused and under nourished with two separate owners until she found her way to BRO. She was fostered by two incredible people, Steve and Shelby, who had a big task ahead of them getting Kashi Bean ready for her forever home. When we first brought Kashi home she was still a little underweight and VERY hesitant of anyone but the three of us. Over time she warmed up to all that entered our home. She taught us all patience and perseverance.

Around Christmas this past year she had a small lump on one ear and an infection we just couldn't get to clear up. By the end of January she was diagnosed with Cutaneous Langerhans Cell Histiocytoma that covered at least 50% of her body with tumors. We all worked so hard (Thank you Drs. Babcock and Eby) to get her on the road to healing but nothing seemed to work. Eventually her liver showed signs of damage most likely the LCH gone systemic. She crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on March 11th around 4:15 very peacefully with all of us by her side.

RIP dear Kashi Bean - may your cheeks flap forever free!!

he walks besides you on crisp autumn days

when frost is on the fields and winter's drawing near,

his head within our hand in his old way."
