Sasha came into our lives in June of 2001. Norma had been in communication
with Boxer Rescue about helping out as a foster parent and I have to say
that fostering really worked as Sasha fostered with us for approximately the
next 11 years.
We basically new within the first week of fostering that this little gal was
going nowhere but French's Road and the couch.
Sasha had a rough start having a snout full of porcupine quills (most had
been removed), kennel cough and very thin. Over time with tender loving care
and nutrition we had her up and ready for anything that came along. She also
was a dominant female and not good around other dogs as I found out one day
on our walk when she had an all all out brawl with a border collie (I don't
think the border collie new what hit it).
Over the last few years she did slow down a lot and just in the last few
months since Christmas her front and rear legs were failing, along with
shortness of breath. Many times we would have to help her up the stairs but
that's what people do to help out old ones. Sasha passed away on the couch
at home (assisted by a very understanding vet.) on March 23, 2012. It had to
be the hardest decision we had to make to let go of that little angel. We
will miss making her scrabbled eggs for lunch, our walks, final jeopardy
(that she seemed to always know the answer and hollered through it) and that
beautiful face and personality.
If there is an "other side " when we step ashore I hope she will be there to
meet us at the Rainbow Bridge. Rest our little one and know that you were
and always will be loved and missed.
Sincere thank you to Boxer Rescue and Team.
